Apologies I could have expressed myself more clearly. I don’t think one can 
separate out teaching people to use the maths operations without teaching them 
to use filters. But conversely, maybe the maths operators will make it easier 
to teach the filter mechanism.

At the moment, there is an overview tiddler for the maths operators:
