Yes it is a lot more performant now than previous versions
There's no hammer-widget involved, only the hammerjs library, which is used 
by muuri internally

I'm not planning to release any new hammer widget soon, but I hope that my 
examples and the awesome new widget tutorials by @Brian Theado
