for that ... it's very useful

the widget is used at some places in the core, like the "preview" dropdown 
in the editor toolbar, where a ✓ is (should be) displayed beneath the 
selected preview option. There you can notice that it's not working 
correctly. The ✓isn't displayed at first. But after clicking in the 
sidebar-search-input, it is displayed...

I don't know what the advantage should be of using it instead of using the 
entity directly,

so ... boh
