Antony,

I am not a big user of tiddlymap yet. But to get you started on my reading 
the edges are recorded in a json data tiddler. Such a tiddler should be 
accessible as with any other data tiddler using the index and ## notation.
As long as you add a prefix it should be trivial to make an independent 
tiddler for each edge on which to allow comments, using a batch button.
