> a number of core features feel like they could be plugins

The issue of reducing the TiddlyWiki core to a micro-kernel has been
discussed a number of times, but it's not a trivial issue due to various
cross-dependencies.

Having said that, we do expect that some of this will come naturally
with the planned large-scale refactoring after the jQuery integration
(release 2.5).
If you have any suggestions as to which components should be considered
or want to contribute, we'd be happy to get you involved.

This particular preference is unlikely to result in core changes, as
things like author (modifier) and timestamp (modified/created) are
essential components of the tiddler concept.
Whether and how you use or expose those fields is up to you, of course.
