Executive Summary: TiddlyWeb is getting close to being "done" and could do with some review before its APIs are frozen. If you're interested and have some time, please go to http://tiddlyweb.com and explore.
Longer Version: Back in June I announced the creation of the tiddlyweb google group[1] moving most of the discussion about tiddlyweb development from this group to that one. It was a fairly good move: it meant that some fairly esoteric conversations have happened that would have been noise in this group. However it has also meant that TiddlyWeb hasn't had as much exposure to as large a group of people. I'd like to break the boundaries between the groups for this message to give a little update on the state of thigns and make a broad invitation. I recently announced[2] a timetable for the tiddlyweb Python package to be released as version 1.0. 'tiddlyweb' (lower case) is the core engine that drives the entire TiddlyWeb system. The core engine provides the Python and HTTP APIs that makes things go. When tiddlyweb becomes 1.0 the APIs will be declared stable, making for on plugins and UIs for TiddlyWeb more effective. If there are people out in TiddlyWiki-development-land who have been meaning to have a look at TiddlyWeb but have put it off, now would be a good time to take a look if you would like a voice in ensuring the APIs provide the necessary functionality. 1.0 will come in mid January. If you'd like to take a look here are some starting points: * http://tiddlyweb.com provides an entry point * http://tiddlyweb.peermore.com/ is the current main documentation source * http://pypi.python.org/pypi/tiddlyweb tiddlyweb's PyPI page * http://pypi.python.org/pypi?%3Aaction=search&term=tiddlyweb is a listing of all the Python packages related to TiddlyWeb on PyPI. There are quite a lot. * http://pypi.python.org/pypi/tiddlywebwiki aggregates the pieces that create TiddlyWeb as a multi-user, server-side for TiddlyWiki * http://cdent.tumblr.com/tagged/tiddlyweb are all the postings from blog tagged with 'tiddlyweb' * http://github.com/tiddlyweb is where the core tiddlyweb code is developed Here are some TiddlyWebs in action: * http://tiddlyweb.peemore.com/ is a TiddlyWeb server hosting the TiddlyWeb docs. * http://www.osmosoft.com/ runs on TiddlyWeb. * http://www.wiki-data.com/ runs on TiddlyWeb. * http://tiddlyweb.appsport.com/ is TiddlyWeb on Google App Engine. * http://hoster.peermore.com/ is an experimental server, built on TiddlyWeb, which provides a hosting service for TiddlyWeb stuff. For the past six months most development work has been focused on building things with the tiddlyweb tools and then using those new things to find bugs and prove (or disprove) that the system works or does not work. This has resulted in a huge number of bug fixes, some very significant performance enhancements, some very interesting developments with storage systems and plugins, and a very useful packaging and deployment system. If you're interested, please try things out, and if you have comments direct them to the tiddlyweb google group, or reply to this message.
