Thanks for the suggestion, but what I want is just the opposite -- a
function to convert wiki-text into HTML text.
I guess Simon's example was confusing:
wikifyStatic("//foo// ''bar'' --baz--");
// returns "<em>foo</em> <strong>bar</strong> <strike>baz</strike>"
