Just one little addition. When the code was moved to a product machine - it failed. The failure was related to the DOCTYPE declaration - the AltovaXML dll was attempting to validate the Tempate html and this failed as it couldn't access the referenced DTD because of the authentication required by our Proxy Server. There was no challenge for the Proxy Server interactively when run in XMLSpy, and there is no obvious means to prevent the validation or to redirect to a local DTD copy
The workaround for this was very simple - delete the DOCTYPE line from the Template.html. Without it the process completed successfully including the recreation of the DOCTYPE in the resulting output files.
