Just a thought, but deprecated functions stay in the core so that
people can get sufficient time to fix their own plugins. This time
frame should then relate to how long it (generally speaking) takes
people to fix all of their plugins (bearing in mind that for many
people, it's not a full time job). Deprecated functions are fairly
easy to ignore, etc...

I really disagree with this. People can follow the commit log if they
want to do development on TiddlyWiki core, but if they're just
interested, I don't see why we should force them to.

For example, I'm interested in Chrome (the browser). That doesn't mean
I subscribe to the commit log though. Rather, I subscribe to the
chromium blog, and get a summary of important updates (rather than
_everything_ that happens).

We've only recently moved from Subversion. I think the aim is to speed
up this release cycle no?
