IMO date formats are different, depending on regions. So in favor of
installed user base, I don't think it makes sense to change the
default. I think it woud cause more trouble than benefits.

But I think, it would be nice to have some information (settup
tiddler), even in the empty TW, with the possibility to adjust
regional settings.
