I also vote for not only being able to use a default location but also being able to point to some external source, e.g.
<img *src*="pb:img.jpg"/> ...whereas *pb:* is an alias defined by me at some place which is substituted with a defined path to my photo-bucket folder, for example. This might also come in handy for *href *attributes in links, or *src*attributes in iframes e.g. <a *href*="g:foo"/> ...linking to a google search for foo.
