Sorry if I'm repeating someone. I did search to see if there was a report about this (either here or in the TRAC database) but was unable to found it. Maybe I didn't search with the proper terms. Anyway, there is apparently an issue with upgrade in TiddlyWiki version 2.8.1 (I didn't tested with previous versions, and I'm sure the problem didn't exist with 2.7.1).
To reproduce the problem with an example: Download an empty tiddlywiki 2.8.1 Load it on Firefox 25.0 Create a tiddly called "Cão" (dog in portuguese), with "Cão" in the body too Save and see that everything is as expected Now, upgrade the wiki for the most recent version (2.8.1). It will allow it because there is a chance our version is corrupted. After upgrade, we'll see that the title of the last tiddle became "c㯢 creator=" and the content text is presented as C㯼/pre> Now, something about the context. I found this problem while upgrading from a 2.7.1 to a 2.8.1 . *MY* problem was solved by downloading an empty tiddlywiki, and importing from an old 2.7.1 . The trouble is only happening with Upgrade. I didn't tried other browsers or other OSs. Mine is a Linux Fedora 19. I'm not sure if it is relevant but the encoding on the advanced option txtFileSystemCharSet is UTF-8. Also I'm using TiddlyFox extension for firefox 1.0alpha18. Later, I might try to test on other operating systems, but for now... ...is this a bug? A known bug?
