As a workaround, you might try avoiding the use of square brackets in the
parameter by changing the <<fet>> like this:
<<fet *filter '[tag[$1]]'* sortableBy '"$2"' ...
and then invoke it like this:
<<tiddler [[SListTemplate##main]] *with:"current"* ...
