My cristall ball <http://file1.npage.de/008615/72/bilder/wahrsagekugel.jpg> doesn't work too well at the moment ;) But guessing from your description and remembering that Jeremy once said that popup are not part of the widget tree (or something like that), I'd guess that this might be the problem. I tried to edit tiddler fields in a popup and that didn't work well either.
