Astrid, That's about what I concluded as I continued to look at it after I responding to Tobias though I missed a number of the steps you listed.
So. in button.js, there is a command that checks the originating tiddler's name which it then passes the handleSaveTiddlerEvent... I don't see where that happens though it must be there.
