If I didn't miss something react needs node.js?

Am I missing something.
Sounds like react.js would be helpful to build user interfaces like comment 
systems, especially since that is one of the tutorials.

I am a NOOB on this stuff so others will need to chime in on how this would 
interface and what advantages it gives TW5.
