Tobias, The only part of this that I don't think that calc could do is update the value in a field based on another field changing. This will almost certainly not be the case in the future when someone makes a plugin that allows action-widgets or tiddlers messages to be triggered on a change to a tiddler. Once that happens something like your calc macro will almost certainly be the better solution.
The next step may actually be to find a way to change this so that if any tiddlers returned by a filter change it will trigger a set of actions. That seems like a much more flexible and more generally useful application of background processes than what I have been doing. Something like if a tiddler is tagged with a given tag you can give a filter expression in the text field and and a sequence of action widgets or macros stored in the other fields, then each time any of the things returned by the filter change the action widgets and macros are triggered. So yes, after reading your comment I think that is the way to go. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TiddlyWikiDev" group.
