I have worked on a very similar idea : http://archipel.tiddlyspot.com
I don't know if you were inspired by me or not , but whatever I'm really 
pleased to see your work, as your coding skills looks to be much better 
than mine (which is actually rather easy).

I'v got plenty of ideas to further develop this approach and I would be 
very happy to discuss with you about it.

As you can see on my Archipel version, I wanted to categorize the level of 
knowledge maturity for each tiddler and render it in the D3 graph with a 
color code.
