I only have access to a phone at the moment and your editor gets in the way.

Go through your code stepwise in the popup tool and make sure you aren't 
accidentally settings currentTiddler to a different variable.

As long as currentTiddler points to the popup tool tiddler this will work:

[subfilter{!!em-itemfilter}]
