I was able to run some quick & dirty benchmarks against TurboVNC, and
unfortunately TigerVNC lags by about 50%. This is, proportionally,
about the same performance that I see with TightVNC 1.3.9. I think
that, at the high level, the encoding heuristics are getting in the way
much as they did with TightVNC. I will need to make some modifications
to the tight encoder so we can realize the speedup from our enhanced
JPEG codec. I would even propose that perhaps we take advantage of the
extensive research that has already been done to develop TurboVNC 0.5
and implement the same "golden" settings that I spent 3 months of
exhaustive work to find.

I will do a more thorough evaluation next week. I think there is some
potentially very low-hanging fruit and that I can achieve significantly
better performance than this for 1.0.0 with only a couple of weeks of work.
