Sorry, I should have provided more information on the project. I'm working
as a graduate student and the project is a low cost dynamic tiled display
using laptops. Each laptop connects to a portion of a large VNC session. A
picture (dynamicwall_image.png) of an example that uses 15 macbooks to make
a display can be found at the following link:

So my use for the server includes possibly a large number of clients being
connected and a lot of data being processed. When I first started the
project I was not planning on contributing anything to the project I just
profiled the code and found that CUT was taking a large percentage of the
time and I thought I would attempt to improve performance by working on that
then I thought I was try and contribute and see if it could be of use to
anyone else. In the beginning I just assumed (incorrectly) that the CUT was
and always would be used so it seemed like a good idea at the time. A text
file with the profiling information in it can be found here:

http://king.eece.maine.edu/tigervnc-profile.txt

We ran a few tests using some applications used on the wall, Google Earth
and the Elephants Dream movie in VLC. You can ignore the "Dynamic" results
that was the first of two different implementations the "Static" results are
the final implementation. Images of the graphs showing the average times for
calls to the compareRect function can be found at the following links:

Thanks again for your time.
