Thilo Goetz commented on TIKA-9:
--------------------------------
I know I spoke out in favor of Java 1.4 only a couple of months ago, but I have
since changed my mind. By the time Tika is ready for prime time, even the last
1.4 strongholds will have fallen. So I for one would give up on the Java 1.4
requirement.
> Make source code compilable on Java 1.4 by removing Java 5 features such as
> generics.

> A concensus was reached to make the library Java 1.4 compatible.
> Some source files have generics (e.g. List<String>).
> These need to be removed so that the library is 1.4 compatible.
