Updates cause index bloat over time. So it is not very surprising that a 
freshly imported database is smaller. You can do a 'REINDEX' on an existing 
database to get rid of the bloat but that would only works if you have enough 
space left for rebuilding the indexes. If you are down to 1GB of free space, 
there is pretty much nothing you can do anymore.
