That's not vague at all. That's a very specific error message now which helped
me track down the problem. The error is due to a bug in the underlying
libosmium library which has been [fixed
there](https://github.com/osmcode/libosmium/commit/6dd4e28bf9ce5c6e929b78d67e8c41a6dd01b64b)
but it is not in a released version yet. So this will be fixed in due course
also in osm2pgsql. This bug does not affect the PBF files, so you should be
okay if you switch.
