There is already a change in master that [allows getting any of the nodes in a
way as point](47938815da5ae734d113d7fb62af64fbb85bfd80). That's not exactly
what you are asking for, but in most cases I have seen the only issue is really
to get any point on the line as a "representative" of that line, no matter
which point it is exactly. So this might already solve your problem. A
[LineInterpolatePoint](https://postgis.net/docs/manual-3.5/ST_LineInterpolatePoint.html)
function might still be useful though.
