Because it's all temporary data? I do the same. On my machines the tah installation is mounted over NFS and the working folder is on local /tmp. This way all client instances use the same installation bot don't interfere with each others data. And since rendering can be I/O demanding it won't be bogged down by the network. They then upload to a common directory on the NFS share. Works pretty well.
