Out of curiosity I tried running the same request with Resource Monitor running. Windows here seems to run with everything I normally use open at about 42% physical memory used. Watching inkscape work through the first 6% of rendering OK it climbed to somewhere between 64% and 77% physical memory use for each rendering percent before dropping back to 42% memory. At 7% rendering it climbed to 72% and gave the error, so not an out of memory error. Searching in Google for the full error message suggests it is an unfixed high importance Inkscape bug: Bug 168914 https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/168914 I have about 3.5GB (BIOS preventing access to full 4GB physical installed) with Windows Vista 64-bit version. I tried looking for a 64-bit Inkscape but it looked like I'd have to build it myself, and presumably it would still have the same bug if I finally tracked down a compiler and all dependencies in suitable 64 bit formats.
