No direct effect. The markings are logged to a file that is very infrequently being processed at irregular intervals. And as AFAIK there is no set protocol as to how the markings in the file are to be processed. There was some discussion about this on this list in october. Search for mails with subject "Marking Tiles as sea or land (informationfreeway) without success". I think the quickest way to get tiles changed properly is to note down which tiles to change and to what state and post them here on the list. I for one will make those changes in svn for you. I'm sure there are others too. Or request a login for the svn server so you can change them yourself.
