The Windows client worked last time I tried it, but perhaps recent client changes broke things. I did develop my own installer since that used the newer Perl version though, so perhaps that was an issue? I stopped using the Windows client available via the wiki though and wrote my own in VB 2005 (or maybe VB 2008 I forget). Essentially it is just a wrapper for the Perl client that monitors StdOut and StdErr in separate tabs, and allows you to view tile details on the GUI for recent requests you've processed (opening for example http://server.tah.openstreetmap.org/Browse/details/tile/12/2061/1354 / in your browser if you've recently processed, or are working on, 2961, 1354). Tomorrow I'll try the current installer on my wife's machine, and if you send a link to your "partially working fix" I'll have a look at that as well.
