Thanks for defending us and I agree with you fully. t...@h helped to raise
the bar and to provide an independent infrastructure to deliver
tiles. And it also served/serves as a nice experimental place to play
with styles. Now with toolserver.org, geofabrik stuff and cloudmade
style editors that task has become less important though.

I think selectable layers are still not sufficiently covered elsewhere
so we could provide that. But I love the contour maps and I would be
happy if we could get our clients to render that on a regular basis. All
it takes is someone to assemble the client side stuff to produce these
maps and I guess that a mapnik installation per client can be ruled out.

Any takers or people with ideas? I am willing to help out on the server
side as much as I can, but I can't take on the client side as well.
