Just a comment that I may have made before. I bought a brand new dual port GPS HP splitter on ebay about 3 years ago and after a few months it just died. I had nothing to loose to open it up, so I did. A few quick measurements indicated that the RF amplifier transistor or FET, was not getting any voltage at all. I found a small SMD IC that turned out to be a 3.3 volt voltage regulator feeding the front end, and, while it had an input of 5 volts it had no output. First assuming there was a short someplace I lifted or pried up the output pin of the regulator and it still had nothing on it. So, I concluded it was the regulator. I did not have SMD tools at the time, so, I just used a scalpel and cut the pins off the device and removed the IC. Then I took a strand from a multi strand piece of wire and connected/soldered the input trace to the output trace. It has now worked fine for about 2 years and I expect it to continue. Just wanted to share this should anyone else experience the same problem. Regards - Mike
