In what way is >Dave Mills' reference implementation of NTP substandard? Why is phk's >freely available work on the timingcode and elsewhere in FreeBSD >substandard? I've not read Dave's work, so I can't say. However, please note that I was NOT trying to say that EVERYthing that's free is substandard. That's certainly NOT the case, or my network presence wouldn't even exist (FreeBSD, Apache, NNTPCache, etc). I was merely advocating caution, in terms of carefully evaluating both free and pay-for solutions to see which one works best.
