The JPL'ers are fond of the Helibowl.. A helix wound on a plastic cup, mounted in a inexpensive mixing bowl, or those things you put under the elements/burner in a stove. I've asked several times about specific dimensions and they're always sort of vague: I think it depends on the specific model of plastic cup and mixing bowl available at the local discount store when they make the antenna.

If you look up the dimensions of the choke rings, you'll see there's a fair amount of variability, so the "nested straight sided cake pan" is probably not a bad strategy, as well.
