The GPRMC sentence  is supported on all the GPS modules that I have.

The GPZDA sentence is the best time/date sentence to use if your receiver 
supports it.  It just has date/time info and is usually optimized for the best 
timing performance.

Note that for best accuracy you need to adjust the arrival time of the sentence 
to the time encoded in the message.   For a lot of GPS modules this can be 
200-300 msecs.   Lady Heather has code for adjusting for the time difference.  
Different time offsets are automatically selected depending upon the detected 
receiver type or you can specify the value to use.   Most NMEA receivers are 
rather generic and not easily distinguisable, so the default value may not be 
the best.
