It needs a *stable* temperature. It has a heater to provide regulation. The thing about a heater for stabilizing temperature is... it can only heat, it can't cool. A modest amount of cooling ensures that the system can respond to ambient temperature variations in both directions. A super-insulated device that gets too hot is helpless.
