Since ntpd tries to correct the offset down to zero, you might want to plot 
the frequency (as output by ntpq -c rv, or IIRC also in one of the log 
files) instead.  The correlation is much more beautiful (though probably 
still not exact enough to actually measure the temperature.)

(Obviously, ntpd's estimate of the internal clock frequency is calculated 
from the offset, and then again used to correct the offset, so the two 
values are closely related.)
