I'm not sure on the history of this question, but you could always go 
with the good old Linksys wrt54g.  LifeHacker has a good article on 
"Turn[ing] your $60 router into a $600 router" at

Also I've used an older (purchased it refurb) Cisco 831 as a decent ADSL 
router.
