Inez Tenenbaum favors protectionist trade policies, so she had egg on her face when it was discovered her conference call had been outsourced.
Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Inez Tenenbaum held a conference call with reporters Monday to pitch a TV ad that bemoaned the loss of South Carolina jobs overseas. Oops. Tenenbaum learned during the call that her own teleconference had been contracted out to workers in Canada.
The next day, Inez attacked Congressman DeMint because his campaign T-Shirts are made in honduras. That's not a problem for Jim because he believes in open markets.
A day after her own campaign's outsourcing snafu, Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Inez Tenenbaum pointed out her Republican opponent's campaign T-shirts were made in Honduras. Tenenbaum on Tuesday accused Jim DeMint of choosing to "slap American textile workers in the face" by investing in "foreign labor markets."
I'm on DeMint's side. I agree with him, a global market is better for American businesses and workers.
DeMint campaign manager Terry Sullivan said the design and screening work for DeMint’s shirts was done in the United States. The shirts are an example of the global economy in which American firms have to compete, he said, where work is done in several countries.
