Access to polling places tightened
Judges in Florida and Colorado yesterday tightened access to polling places in their states, a blow to Democrats who had argued that legal restrictions there disenfranchised voters especially new ones, mostly Democratic-leaning minorities.
I'm not 100% convinced that early voting is such a good thing. Are there safeguards in place to insure that a citizen who votes early won't vote again on November 2nd? Do you have to show ID at the poll? What if somebody votes using your name before election day and then you're not allowed to vote?
There was one disturbing paragraph in this article I'd like to point out.
In a unanimous ruling in Florida, the seven justices of the state Supreme Court said the votes of residents who cast ballots at the wrong precincts do not have to be counted, upholding a state law that labor unions argued unconstitutionally deprived residents of the right to vote if they did not know their polling place.
Listen folks, if you can't find the right place to go vote, you don't deserve to vote. If you're not smart enough to find the polls, then you're not smart enough to cast an intelligent vote.
