A new entry titled 'Up in the Air' has been posted to New Trommetter Times.

I fell asleep on the sofa waiting for the results to come in. I just woke up a few minutes ago to learn we still don't know who won the Presidential election. According to FOXNews, Bush is leading 51% to 48% for Kerry. They're listing Nader at 0% with 386,351 votes, but they don't list Badnarik who has 361,025 votes according to the Washington Post. Of course, these numbers could change at any minute.

Of course, in the Presidential race, the popular vote is not the deciding factor. It's the Electoral College votes that count. You need 270 votes to win and right now, Bush is stuck at 269 votes, John Kerry has 242. That means 27 EC votes are still too close to call right now. If Kerry got all 27 of those votes, we'd have a tie at 269-269. Then the House of Representatives would have to decide the outcome.

In other important races, Jim DeMint (R) replaces retiring Senator Fritz Hollings (D) in South Carolina. Richard Burr (R) has defeated Clinton cronie Erskine Bowles (D) to take over John Edwards (D) seat in North Carolina. In my home House district, Bob Inglis (R) cruised to a 41 point victory over his nearest competitor. In another contentious race that we heard a lot about on our TV, incumbent Charles Taylor (R) keeps his House seat.

In one of the biggest upsets of this election season, John Thune (R) has defeated Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle (D) indicating a major shift of power to the Republicans in the Senate.
