Abortion Advocates File Lawsuit Against Provision Protecting Hospitals

Abortion advocates have filed a lawsuit seeking to invalidate a provision attached to a spending bill President Bush signed yesterday. The provision protects hospitals, health insurance companies and medical personnel from being forced to be involved with abortions.

Pro-abortionists have changed the language of this debate. For some medical professionals, the idea of being involved in an abortion is unconscionable. "First, do no harm." But the arguments they present in their lawsuit contain at least two fallacies.

First, they claim this is an attack on "state sovereignty." This is a convenient term they use only when it suits them. Shouldn't every state be free to make their own laws concerning abortion? No, Roe v. Wade must remain the law of the land.

Second, the pro-abortionists who filed this lawsuit claim it would cost the state of California federal dollars. Yeah, so what? The state of California isn't entitled to any federal dollars. Why are taxes collected in other states being used to pay for health care and possibly abortions in California?
