A dangerous new initiative is now the law of the land and it affects our children. Late last year Congress authorized the funds for mandatory mental health screening of all school-children. The goal is to promote the patently false idea that we have a nation of children with undiagnosed mental disorders crying out for treatment. One obvious beneficiary of the proposal is the pharmaceutical industry, which is eager to sell the psychotropic drugs that undoubtedly will be prescribed to millions of American schoolchildren under the new screening program. But the children are in danger here. HR 181, The Parental Consent Act of 2005, is attempting to stop this program.
