First Amendment Restoration Act Dear friend,
You may not be aware that Congress has made it illegal for citizens to broadcast ads criticizing elected federal office holders within 60-days of an election. Nothing could be more contrary to the principles of a free society and representative government. Fortunately, Representative Roscoe Bartlett (R.-MD) has re-introduced his "First Amendment Restoration Act" (HR 46) to repeal these restrictions on free speech and political dissent. The "Campaign Finanace Reform Act" should have been called the "Incumbent Protection Act." I personally think that all current laws on campaign financing should be repealed and replaced with a system whereby all elected officials must make their list of campaign donors available on a public web site.
