I'm thinking this is the way abc2midi (another Open Source program) creates 
the midi files.  Not sure if this file was created by that program, but they 
all seem to have the same kind of problem.

Funny thing is, all four files work fine on Van Basco and WinKaroake and 
GoSing (my other karaoke midi players), so I never realized there was 
anything strange or non-standard with the format.  When I was looking at the 
internals of abc2midi, I was trying to dig up some material on kar file 
standards and I really didn't find much.  (I remember Wotsit has a file on 
that format:  http://www.wotsit.org/list.asp?al=K)  I wonder if these 
programs just try to play as many files as possible whatever the format.  
They certainly all handled the comments on who wrote the song, song title, 
etc. all differently.
