Comparing the OSI / IP / Data Property layers. Upper layers tack on bytes to the lower layers.
Data=App+Pres+Sess Segments=Transport Packets=internet Frames+Bits=NetworkAccess MTU is at the layer of frames as in ethernet frames. MSS is above MTU.
