Hello Cobin, Thank you for replying. I was about writing you a reply to ask you how I could have forgotten to copy the public cert if it does work from the command line.
But the you started me thinking ☺ The service is running with different rights then the command line is. So I changed the access rights to the tinc folder so that everybody can read it. And now it works. This solution will do for my situation. Do 'tincd -n VPNname -D -d2' or -d3 or -d4 until you see error messages, do this on both sides.
