I am at the same point now, Mailgate runs but does not open a new case.
I have tried running tinyerp-mailgate.py with a message piped in from
the command line and I get this:

<path>/tinyerp-server/bin/addons/crm/scripts/tinyerp-mailgate/tinyerp-mailgate.py
 -u3 -pmypassword -ssupport </tmp/testmessage

Mail Sent to Sending mail to default address None
False

I have set up a case section with a code of "support" and made sure the
sending user has a contact address with the correct email set. Is there
anything further that I need to do or any other tests?

I am using the Stable version of Tiny with SVN updates.
