Hello, I am interested in integrating an open source SMS gateway to replace clickatell and also to allow for additional SMS functions and two-way SMSs throughout OpenERP. Ideally, it would be designed like smtpclient so other modules could utilize the SMS module. But to start, it would just replace clickatell to SMS partners.
The main reason I don't want to use clickatell is their rates are very expensive for my country relative to local rates. I could use a local SMS gateway but I like the idea of having control over the SMS gateway. I am not a programmer but have a programmer who will work with me as an intern for a few months and I thought this might be a good project for him. It would work best if I could give him some direction. A few questions: 1) How complicated would this task be? I assume it is possible. 2) What open source gateway would work best with OpenERP (require the least modifications)? I assume if in the future I want to keep SMSs in partner history and have two-way SMS then postgresql is necessary. Below I have included a list of some. 3) What other instructions or guidance do you suggest I give him? Thanks!
