Could someone please explain product variants to me?
I'm new to OpenERP, but I have read the documentation and the book, and set up
a basic database, into which I am trying to enter the data for a small fashion
business. I have installed the fashion module.
What we have is a series of garment lines, each with a product code. Each of
these lines comes in various colours (white, black, etc) and sizes (S, M, L).
Typically a customer will order a range of colours and sizes for each line, say;
S / M / L
model A white 2 / 2 / 3
model A black 1 / 1 / 2
model B red.... (etc)
Now in OpenERP, do I need to create a separate product for each variant eg
"model A white M" in the price list?
Also, if/when I create these products, do I need to edit the product names
manually? It seems that OpenERP will give me a text string in an entry control
looking something like "model A /S/M/L/white/black/" and I need to edit this
for each and every variant of every product. Is this correct?
