Regarding synchronization, there's a shared funding module that would allow to do it (http://openerp.com/images/pdf/base_synchro%20openerp.pdf).
On the attachments: you can attach any kind of document to any kind of resource inside OpenERP. You could attach tehcnical docs to a product, contracts to customers, or any other file on any other object.
